This programme aims to equip the learner with the knowledge, skills and competence to select and safely install a range of insulation and draught-proofing systems within a domestic construction environment. Learners will gain an understanding of the properties and performance of natural and man-made insulation materials, relevant terminology and notation, and current legislation and legal responsibilities relating to energy conservation.
The programme explores the principles of heat loss, energy-efficient design considerations, and the environmental impact of insulation materials, while emphasising health and safety and risk reduction. On completion, learners will be able to safely cut, shape and install insulation and draught-proofing systems to walls, floors, attic spaces, doors, windows and service openings using appropriate hand and power tools.
