Living Smart: Practical Skills for Low‑Carbon Homes
As part of the GRASP Programme’s Cross‑Cutting Theme activities, GRASP Partners are jointly developing a new Householder Training Module designed to support more than 1,000 residents across the region.
Delivered entirely online, this practical and user‑friendly programme helps householders understand how to confidently use low‑carbon technologies in both new‑build and retrofitted homes. The module focuses on real‑world behaviours and everyday actions that help residents get the best performance from their home’s systems and energy‑efficient features.
What will you learn?
Participants will learn how to:
- Operate heat pumps, MVHR systems, smart controls and other low‑carbon technologies correctly
- Understand the relationship between airtightness, insulation and ventilation in Net‑Zero, High‑Performance and retrofitted homes
- Avoid common problems such as condensation, poor air quality, and inefficient system operation
- Make informed choices about heating, ventilation and day‑to‑day energy use
- Maximise the benefits of retrofit upgrades or modern low‑carbon building features
This programme is designed to build confidence and equip householders with the practical know‑how needed to live comfortably, efficiently and sustainably in modern low‑carbon homes, whether newly constructed or retrofitted.
The initiative reflects GRASP’s commitment not only to supporting the construction workforce but also to empowering the wider community, helping residents use low‑carbon technologies as intended and play an active role in the region’s transition to a greener future.
