About this course

Develop the skills and knowledge needed to design, install, test, and commission small‑scale grid‑tied solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. Ideal for those entering the renewable energy sector or upskilling within the construction and electrical industries, this course provides a comprehensive introduction to the principles and practicalities of domestic PV systems.

Beginning with the fundamentals of electrical technology, you’ll progress through the core concepts of photovoltaic science, system design, installation standards, and hands-on commissioning. By the end of the programme, you’ll be equipped with the essential competencies required for safe, effective PV system installation in line with current industry guidelines.

To qualify for GRASP funding, applicants must meet the following criteria;

Applicants must be 16 years of age or older.
Applicants must live in Northern Ireland or one of the bordering counties
