About this course

Become a certified SEAI-approved Domestic BER Assessor through this fully funded GRASP programme delivered by Donegal College. This QQI Level 6 course equips learners with the practical skills and technical knowledge needed to carry out Building Energy Rating (BER) assessments on new and existing homes across Ireland.

Over six training days—including five online sessions and one in-person day in Dublin—you’ll learn how to survey dwellings, use DEAP software, interpret construction drawings, and produce BER certificates and advisory reports in line with Irish and EU legislation.

The programme is open to eligible participants living in designated counties within Northern Ireland and the border region of Ireland. Training costs are fully subsidised under the GRASP fund (SEAI accreditation fees not included).

Entry Requirements

Route 1 - NFQ Level 6 Higher or Advanced Certificate in a construction related discipline, where the required fundamental skillsets were covered.
Route 2 - Approved NFQ Major Award in a relevant construction-related discipline.
Route 3 - a) Member of a listed professional organisation at a specific grade, gained through an experiential learning route.

b) 2 years full time relevant work experience in a construction-related environment AND an accumulation of SEAI approved or accredited awards in a relevant construction-related discipline, where the listed fundamental skillsets were covered.

To qualify for GRASP funding, applicants must meet the following criteria;

Applicants must be 16 years of age or older.
Applicants must live in Northern Ireland or one of the bordering counties.
